The TL494C is a pulse-width-modulation control circuit. It incorporates all the functions required in the construction of a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) control circuit on a single chip. Designed primarily for power-supply control, the TL494C offers the flexibility to tailor the power-supply control circuitry to a specific application. The TL494C  contains two error amplifiers, an on-chip adjustable oscillator, a dead-time control (DTC ) comparator, a pulse-steering control flip-flop, a 5-V, 5%-precision regulator, and output-control circuits.Differential multiplexers are generally used in process control applications to eliminate errors due to common mode signals. In this circuit however, advantage is taken of the dual multiplexing capability of the switch. This is achieved by using the multiplexer to select pairs of RC networks to control the pulse width of the multivibrator.This can be a particularly useful feature in process control applications where there is a requirement for a variable width sample `window` for different control signals.Pulse-width modulation (PWM), or pulse-duration modulation (PDM), is a modulation technique that conforms the width of the pulse, formally the pulse duration, based on a modulator signal information.
