The MC33099 Adaptive Alternator Voltage Regulator is intended to manage the output voltage in diode-rectified alternator charging systems common in automotive. The MC33099 functions a feedback voltage to identify an alternator field current that is in balance with system load power. This MC33099 voltage regulator provides accurate output voltage control over a wide variety of temperature, electrical loads, and engine RPM.

Load Response Control (LRC) is achieved by selecting the duty cycle for existing engine situations to remove engine speed searching and vibrations due to abrupt torque loading at low RPM. Four LRC rates are selectable by linking hooks 7 and 8 to ground. Above diagram? is a schematic related to the MC33099 pin function and definition is described as follows:
